Department of Zoology started its journey in the year 1971. . The department started offering its pre UG level study from the year 1971 and the UG level study was also started from the year 1971. The honours courses of the department started in the year 1994.

Departmental Activity

Department of zoology is running a vocational course on Industrial Fish and Fisheries. The department arranges educational tours to different parts of the country having Zoological Importance. ( Bandipura National Park, Karnataka; Sasan Gir National Park, Gujarat; Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Rajasthan; Sundarbon, West Bengal; Nandan kanan, Orissa; Kaziranga National Park, Assam, Jaldapara National Park, West Bengal, Buxer Tiger Reserve, West Bengal. etc.). Four minor research project has been completed by the department. More than 21 research papers have been published by the department.
